Density control a draw for new inspection system

Printers in Turkey are the first to use new features in DCOS’ inspection system for register and cut-off on four of their presses.

Two Goss Universal presses at Özgun Companies Group, and two Tensor T400BEs at Ada Matbaacilik make use of features including closed loop density control and web guiding introduced at DREUPA last year.

The two were the first to go live on the web guiding feature, which keeps the web centered via adjustments from the reel position in the splicers.

Product manager Andreas Andersson says even though measuring accuracy is better, the feature is different to traditional web-guiding because of the longer distance from reel to scanner, which makes the control loop slower. “But for semi-commercial and coldset printing the performance is very satisfying and the investment is minimal since this feature is combined in the cut-off scanner”, he says.

DCOS signed two orders for the inspection system with closed loop density functionality at DRUPA and IfraExpo last year – for Nr1 Trykk in Norway (manroland Uniset press) and Bold Printing Borås (KBA Colora) – and both are now in daily production.

Andersson says interest in the inspection system has been “massive” since the density feature was introduced, “and especially since it is now up running”.
