A new benchmarking project between Wifag and Tamedia “may extend to Europe and the USA“.
The press maker and the media group – both from Switzerland – will work to benchmark quality assurance and process optimisation, starting with Tamedia’s three large sites in Zürich, Bern and Lausanne.
The companies aim to develop standardized parameters to compare the quality levels and the total performance of the differently equipped manufacturing plants.
In each plant, Tamedia and Wifag will investigate the workflow from platemaking, printing through to the mailroom. Performance and work processes of technical services will be analyzed in a bid to improve coordination of future service and maintenance and adapt organisation of the technical service teams.
The companies say the joint benchmarking “may also involve” printing plants from Europe and the USA in the future. Initially it will help set ‘best practice’ for Tamedia, although both companies want to extend the benchmarking to other plants in the near future, and has others interested.
