After reorganising its production facilities in France, Goss International has reduced its US workforce by 170 at facilities in New Hampshire, Illinois and Texas.
The company says it is also considering options including short-term furloughs during the summer for employees in the USA. The staff reduction and additional cost saving measures are essential responses to economic conditions, particularly a decline in advertising expenditures, which have adversely impacted the demand for new printing and print finishing equipment worldwide, according to Goss International chief executive Jochen Meissner. The company is providing severance packages for employees.
Goss has manufacturing facilities in Asia, Europe, and the USA, the latter in Durham (New Hampshire), Bolingbrook (Illinois) and Kennedale (Texas).
