Innovation, Print 4.0 and the digital networking of machines and systems are the focus of the DRUPA print and cross-media trade show which opens at the end of May.
Messe Düsseldorf president and chief executive Werner Dornscheidt says with the 11-day show, three-year frequency and next-generation and highlight themes, "we are obviously on the right track".
And he admits the positive response of suppliers "was not a given".
Some 1650 exhibitors from over 50 countries are expected to fill 19 halls between May 31 May to June 10.
"International global players and market leaders will present themselves alongside aspiring newcomers and innovative outfits from throughout the world," says Dornscheidt. "The complete spectrum of print and cross-media exhibits and topics will be represented. Such a comprehensive 360° view of the entire industry is provided by nobody but DRUPA."
Chairman of the DRUPA committee and KBA chairman Claus Bolza-Schünemann emphasises the Print 4.0 "mega-trend": "Print 4.0 enables individualisation and personalisation in digital printing," he says.
Digital networking of machines and systems offers the solution and guarantee for efficiency and competitiveness.
A programme of accompanying technical events - including the DRUPA innovation park, DRUPA cube, the printed electronics products and solutions (PEPSO) brands, 3D "fab +" print and dedicated "touchpoint" packaging show add value for visitors.
Impulse-generating innovations and business case studies for process-driven print and publishing solutions are centre stage at DRUPA innovation park, organisers say, with young companies and start-ups as well as global players presented. An "energy lounge" offers presentations, lectures and interviews.
In the DRUPA Cube, Medici Group founder Frans Johannsson will present two keynotes and 40 lectures by international experts.
Outside, the city of Düsseldorf will be dressed in red in honour of the event.
