Not yet three decades old, Germany's youngest independent daily Gelnhäuser Neue Zeitung has built the largest circulation in the country's Main-Kinzig region.

Now it's preparing for further growth with an order for a 90,000 cph KBA Commander CL newspaper press.

Publisher Druck-und-Pressehaus Naumann in Gelnhausen will install the highly-automated press in the 2017 (northern) summer after being won over by productivity, print quality, short makeready times and low waste.

The company also publishes the weekly Mittelhessen-Bote and Der Neue Markt, plus Gießener Zeitung with Oberhessische Presse. The company is 51 per cent owned by the Madsack media group.

The Commander CL will have two colour towers, a KF 5 jaw folder and two Pastomat reelstands plus a Patras M automatic reel-loading system and an extensive package of automation modules.
