Bennett, Coleman & Co., publisher of ‘The Times of India’ is to install a CCI NewsGate cross-media publishing system involving more than 1000 seats at five newspapers. In addition to the flagship daily – the world’s largest English language broadsheet daily with a circulation of 3.75 million – the rollout will cover the ‘Economic Times’ and the ‘Mumbai Mirror’ as well as the Indiatimes internet portal, which has about one billion page views a month. Business and commercial director Mohit Jain says the company “rigorously evaluated” many other editorial systems before making its choice: “It also gives us enormous confidence to be in the company of media houses such as the Gannett Group, Axel Springer, the ‘New York Times’, the ‘Economist’ and ‘South China Morning Post’.” Implementation has been underway since April with the first product ‘go-live’ set for the end of the year. The initial project will involve more than 1000 NewsGate seats with users in 20 locations including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Calcutta, logging on remotely to the central servers. NewsGate’s ‘story folder’ concept for organising multimedia content, collaborative work environment and dynamic planning capabilities across multiple delivery channels will be used in all aspects of BCCL’s print and digital content delivery. gx
