Fifth-generation newspaper printer Sharman & Company is working to put a shine on its reputation for quality with the installation of new inspection technology.
The UK company – which dates to the launch of the March Advertiser and Fen District Gazette in 1872 – has focussed on contract printing since consolidation in the late 1980s. Equipment includes a single-width Tensor 400BE press as well as Xeikon digital solutions with Tecnau finishing.
Now the company has announced a partnership with Swedish developer DCOS Automation to upgrade print technology. A closed-loop inspection system for colour register, density and cut-off with integrated dampening is to replace an existing system.
