Chengde Daily in northeast Beijing will upgrade quality and reduce waste with a colour registration system installation on their Beiren presses.

Dutch automation specialist QI Press Controls is particularly flattered that the publisher specifically asked the press manufacturer whether QI's technology could be added to their Beiren 40A pressline. The answer was 'yes' and now an mRC-3D system for colour register is to be installed.

Managing director of QIPC-EAE China Paul Yu says Chengde Daily knew what to expect from the new system. "One had already been saving them huge amounts in terms of waste and time. They expect the new system to do exactly the same," he says.

Four mRC-3D cameras will be installed on two towers and a folder of the press to automate colour register on the press, and are to be fitted with mist shields for lens cleaning.

Operating for more than 60 years, Chengde Daily has a regional focus serving a total readership of 3.5 million. "Favourable references and a good reputation in the region helped in securing the order," Yu says.
