A press control upgrade at McClatchy's Sacramento Bee will see a move to a seamless workflow-based process.

The company has chosen Harland Simon for the upgrade of press controls and upper level management information systems at the California site.

Functions based on the familiar Windows "look, feel and operation methods" will include use of wizards for job creation, and be more configurable.

Impositioning tools are integrated and supported by enhanced graphic displays. There is also a configurable 'stop reasons' entry function.

The Sacramento system will be live by the end of the third quarter of this year.
