Modern Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 755 drives will help Advance Local increase efficiency on a Goss Colorliner in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Harland Simon will complete the upgrade of two of the eight press drives following a 2017 project in which it replaced one of the drives.

Two Allen- Bradley 1336 AC lineshaft drives will be replaced with off-the-shelf Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 755 250HP AC drive modules, increasing production efficiency and helping futureproof the press. Improved diagnostics will ensure that performance of the new drives is continually monitored so that any issues can be rapidly resolved.

Harland Simon will also carry out preventative maintenance on the remaining A-B 1336 drives. The other five drives are to be replaced over the next two years, allowing the press-wide upgrade to be staged over several financial cycles.

Scheduled for October, the installation will be undertaken without interruption of production.

Regional operations director Jim Jones says the flexible approach allows us Advance to spread capital expenditure several years while harvesting spare parts and extending equipment life.
