In a bid to simplify machine set-up as old hands retire, digital press maker Screen and finishing systems manufacturer Horizon are collaborating to bring AI to the 'smart factory' concept.
With demands for more diversity and short turnarounds, the two companies plan to introduce a new artificial intelligence engine by January 2022.
The AI engine will analyse operating data accumulated from different Horizon and Screen production lines and us it to optimise settings and conditions, identify steps to address potential issues and provide general operational assistance for individual lines.
Screen president Takanori Kakita says using the power of data and AI will help meet societal demands and help realise mass customisation.
