Australian-developed fan-out technology contributes to a major Jordanian order for Dutch press control systems supplier QI Press Controls.

An order for a six-tower KBA Commander press for Jordan Press’ biggest circulation national Arabian newspaper ‘Al Rai’ – set for start-up at the end of next year – includes QI’s ABD closed-loop fan-out control, which uses continuous air pressure from noncontact jets.

The press for Jordan Press Foundation in Amman will print newspapers and semi-commercials with six towers, two folders and a dryer

QI says its technology deals with problems which arise when dampening widens the web during printing colour-after-colour, adjusting fan-out  deviations automatically through input from 24 of the in total 48 mRC+ scanning heads on the Commander press.

QI’s Middle East agent Giffin Graphis had worked with Jordan Press Foundation previously on IRS colour register installations. The new press uses a system based on micro-marks in combination with the fan-out system.

In addition to national Arabic daily newspaper ‘Al Rai’ –  which has the biggest circulation and advertising section in the country – Jordan Press Foundation publishes the ‘Jordan Times’, an English publication launched in 1975, and ‘Hatem’, a monthly magazine for children and youngsters.
