New noise reduction and colour cast removal features further automate image editing in OneVision's Amendo update.
The 17.1 version also includes 14 pre-configured "assembly lines" to cover common applications such as increasing local contrast, protecting corporate colours or pure image size changes.
Amendo's intelligent image analysis module recognises portrait photos and selects a different optimisation in the next step than for group pictures.
The new "noise reduction" function automatically corrects noisy images - usually caused by high ISO rating or poor light - by smoothing flat areas. The company says edges are "largely retained" and noise reduction will only be activated if analysis shows that an image is noisy (pictured).
The "remove colour cast" adds further automation with a new "aggressive" mode now removing very strong colour cast automatically, while preserving natural colours. By combining Amendo with Workspace Pro, both the colour scheme and the strength of a colour cast are recognised and these values can be used to further process images differently.
A newly-programmed InDesign Extension allows designers to optimise images directly without specific IT and image processing skills, using pre-configured templates.
Automatic selection of rendering intent has also been improved, with choice based on image analysis instead of mainly by brightness values as previously. The new version also takes saturation into account.
